Come one, come all! WhoDunnit Season Auditions are open to the public, and walk-ins are welcome.
No previous experience is required! We welcome returning talent, experienced thespians, and those newly bitten by the acting bug. There are also opportunities for behind-the-scenes talent! Join one of the warmest and most welcoming teams around with light rehearsal schedules and easy memorization requirements.
Auditions consist of cold reading from the script(s). For singing roles, auditioners are asked to sing a few bars of a Broadway showtune a capella. * NOTE: Our original venue, the Highlands Shelby Park Library, had issues with their air conditioning, and we had to relocate.

Who can audition?
Anyone 18 years of age and up! We cast for a wide variety of roles, and everyone is encouraged to apply.
There is no experience requirement. Beginners are encouraged to try out! Part of WhoDunnit’s mission involves encouraging, training, and developing new talent.
We also offer opportunities for behind-the-scenes work.

We make most of our casting decisions at our annual public Season Auditions in the summer. Occasionally, to meet casting demands, additional audition opportunities may arise throughout the year. These special casting events will be posted here and on our social media channels, and broadcast to our mailing list.

What do I need to bring or prepare?
WhoDunnit auditions are low-stress!
You’re not required to bring anything, but you are strongly encouraged to fill out our online casting form in advance.
If you don’t submit your acting résumé and/or a head shot via the online casting form, a printed copy is helpful to bring with you to auditions. Please note that you don’t need either to apply: beginners without prior experience are encouraged to audition!
Auditions consist of cold reading provided excerpts from our scripts. You do not need to prepare a monologue.
If you are auditioning for a singing role, please plan to sing 16 – 32 bars of your favorite Broadway show tune a cappella.

What is WhoDunnit’s production schedule?
- Fall (production cycle August through October)
- Holiday (production cycle late October / early November through early January)
- Winter (production cycle January through March)
- Spring (production cycle late March / early April through June)
Where do rehearsals / performances take place?
Rehearsals are held at a private residence in the East end, near the Paddock Shops of the Bluegrass (formerly The Summit).
Our public performances are currently held at 80/20 @ Kaelin’s in the Highlands, although we hope to add a new second venue soon. We also accept occasional private bookings at other venues within a 40-mile radius of Louisville.
What time / how long are rehearsals / performances?
The rehearsal schedule varies for each production, and is set by that show’s Director(s).
However, typically, our rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons and one to two weeknights. The total time commitment is usually 4 – 6 hours per week during rehearsals. The time commitment becomes roughly 4 – 5 hours on performance days, once or twice per week, usually on Friday or Saturday evenings. Private event booking schedules may vary.
Main cast members may miss no more than three rehearsals (and there are a few mandatory ones you can’t miss) and are expected to be available for all performance dates.
EXAMPLE: A typical rehearsal schedule might be Sundays, 2–4 PM, and Wednesdays/Thursdays 6:30–8:30 PM. A typical cast call time for performances is 5–5:30 PM (earlier for crew members), and the show is usually over by 9:30 PM, with a brief post-show meeting to follow.
Are WhoDunnit roles paid?
In short… yes, nominally. Our positions are considered professional opportunities. However, we all primarily share our talents for love of the craft.
WhoDunnit is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, operated by a staff and Board comprised of volunteers and independent contractors who participate out of a love for live theatre and a passion for WhoDunnit’s mission. We would love to be able to pay everyone Hollywood wages, but it isn’t in our budget!
Our cast and crew members are generally paid $30 per performance. Rehearsals are not paid. Alternates (understudies) earn $50 per role learned including the first, guaranteed performance (plus $30 for additional performances). Directors are also paid; please inquire if you are interested in becoming qualified to direct.
In addition, WhoDunnit’s regularly purchases post-show drinks for our cast and crew, and hosts a wrap party with snacks and drinks provided after each production run. Cast, crew, and Board members also receive two discounted “at-cost” tickets that can be shared with friends and family, waiving WhoDunnit’s portion of the ticket cost and covering only the meal.
